TEC’s 2008 Stats as Miserable as You’d Expect
Thursday, October 15, 2009 • 12:15 pm
Susan Russell will no doubt call this the "cost of discipleship," but the
2008 TEC numbers are in, and they're not pretty. No wonder the presiding bishop
dodged questions about them.
Lowlights:
- Another 3% of members lost over the last year
- 5- and 10-year loss in active members accelerating
- 5-year loss in ASA unchanged at 14%
- 10-year loss in ASA accelerating
- 55% of all churches declined more than 10% in past 5 years
- Median Sunday ASA: An anemic 69
Comments:
Comment Policy: We pride ourselves on having some of the most open, honest debate anywhere about the crisis in our church. However, we do have a few rules that we enforce strictly. They are: No over-the-top profanity, no racial or ethnic slurs, and no threats real or implied of physical violence. Please see

I wonder how dioceses and parishes leaving TEC affect that 3% loss figure.
