BUMPED & UPDATED:  Congressman Confused About Position On Abortion In Healthcare Bill

Who are the forty House Democrates so that we can thank them. These young children can be grateful for their protection. Thanks be to God.

As soon as I find out, I’m sharing.

The group of 40 would join House Republicans in voting against procedural measure that would draft rules for debating the bill on the House floor. Passage of the measure is necessary for the House to hold a floor vote.

The operative words here are “…would join House Republicans in voting…”.  Emphasis added.

But…but President Obama (peace prize be upon him) said that abortion would not be covered.  On August 19th he said, “You’ve heard that this is all going to mean government funding of abortion. Not true. This is all, these are all fabrications that have been put out there”

God bless Rep. Stupak for being brave enough to stand up for his convictions.

I am grateful for his stance. 

However, the bill’s authors are prepared for this - they won’t say either way IN the bill, and in fact there is very little detail about WHAT the healthcare bill includes with regard to specific coverages and costs.  This is left up to the Czar to determine at a later time - which is TOTALLY LAME. 

It’s like agreeing to purchase a car for some unknown amount and the dealer telling you that HE will decide later which model, color, and style it is AND how much it costs AND what the warranty will cover.

DO NOT BELIEVE OBAMA OR THE FOLKS TRYING TO PASS THE BILL…sorry, they just aren’t being honest.  It is politics after all - both sides are not really trustworthy.  Find out for yourself, and above all WATCH YOUR WALLET!! 

This past weekend I ran into a fellow named Foster Friess while I was in Frederick, MD, for a wedding.  He was talking about health insurance revision and had some great ideas.

He is a Christian and a political activist, on the conservative side.  From my one visit to his website, it looks as though he seeks a revision of how government, taxation, and several other things, so that individual responsibility is emphasized, within a structure where that responsibility can be carried out.

I have an idea that the unspoken(and perhaps unrecognized)desire of many people is that they receive the very best of health care, paid for by someone else.  And they expect to be able to be healthy even though they overeat and under-exercise.  Reality is a bit tougher than that.

I commend Rep Stupak for his stand, and I pray that he and his allies will carry the day.

Thanks for the update. Something I’ve learned over the years is that there are really very few politicians who are pro-life in a truly principled way. Mr. Stupak may be a hypocrite and a coward, but he’s far, far from being the only one. Abortion is a treasure trove of votes, no matter what position you take. As long as you publicly claim to be pro-life, hordes of voters will back you. For most politicians, abortion is the last thing on their agenda, a distant also-ran after things like health care, energy, defense, jobs, transportation, and the like. But as long as you remember to give abortion some lipservice in election years, usually no one will notice.

George W. Bush was a perfect example who was only “pro-life” in the vaguest and most superficial way. His wife Laura was openly pro-choice, he appointed two Supreme Court Justices who will likely be votes to keep Roe v. Wade (http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?id=22023), and his public statements were not so much prophetic denunciations of child murder as substanceless platitudes about fostering a “culture of life.” The first George Bush was much the same way. Even Ronald Reagan, though he published a pro-life piece in 1983, never really seemed concerned about the issue that much. Every four years, we hear religious leaders tell us that it’s our duty as Christians to vote for the pro-life candidate. Doing this in 1980 got us Sandra Day O’Connor, doing this in 1984 got us Anthony Kennedy, and doing this in 1988 got us David Souter. In 1992, these three, together with two other Justices appointed by Presidents who were publicly against Roe, made the 5-4 decision to reaffirm Roe v. Wade. Is this what we voted for?

Even Sarah Palin, the new darling of pro-lifers, stated while she was running for vice president that in regards to the abortion “I think that states should be able to decide that issue.” Sorry Palin, but that’s a pro-choice position - except with the state rather than the woman making the choice. Finding politicians who at a very deep and personal level are passionately pro-life is not an easy task. Even Jeremiah Denton (Alabama Senator 1981-1986), whose passion and commitment to protecting the unborn were almost unequaled, got bullied by the Reagan administration into voting for O’Connor.

On the day of judgment, God will have condemnation both for those who openly advocated the killing of babies, and for those who claimed to be against this slaughter, but belied that claim by their actions.

This is a spiritual and psychological battle.  It is very hard and costly to turn the mind from embracing the spirits of the world, flesh and devil to embracing life.
It requires humility and surrender (the opposite of pride) to God’s will to be renewed and changed in the ‘spirit of the mind’ and to be removed and set free from the tentacles and bondage of the spirit of darkness to escape into the Kingdom of Light in Jesus Christ.

Hmmm….sounds like the “Democrat establishment” may have taken him behind the woodshed for some “counseling”. 

Just so it’s clear - there isn’t any other plank in the Democrat platform more clearly defined than being pro-abortion.  The Democrat party will make an example of you by withhold funding from your next election.
