Planned Parenthood Pushes Intensive Sex Education For Kids As Young As 10

Actually this isn’t about access to information.  It’s about shaping attitudes about sexual morality.  Planned Parenthood wants to intervene between parent and child because it doesn’t trust what parents - especially religious parents - will teach.  It wants to intervene early to maximize effectiveness.  If you don’t have any children, you have to steal children from other people in order to propagate your wolrdview.  That at its most crudely-put level is the motivation behind these efforts.

Of course, who picks up the pieces when everything falls apart?  Not Planned Parenthood.

Let’s see…telling ten year olds that sex is pleasurable couldn’t lead to… well, say, sex at fourteen or fifteen….and result in unplanned pregnancies that might need to be “cared for” by Planned Parenthood? No, of course not. 

This type of report and advocacy isn’t a response to the news that greater amounts of YOUNG Americans are against abortion, could it? Of course not.

It’s scary to think how incredibly deceived the leaders of PP are.  It has been statically proven that sex eduction only INCREASES the incidence of teenage pregnancies.  The sad part is that sex outside of marriage is a faint shadow of what is available in a healthy marriage - the way God intends. 

It’s like drugs - this issue isn’t eduction - the issue is morality - it’s dangerous, so JUST DON’T DO IT!

Not surprising in that they have been handing out condoms in schools for years here and abroad, and are pals of Obama Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jenkins - yes the same Kevin Jennings who is purported to have given a speech in 1997 where he allegedly stated gay pioneer Henry Hay was an “inspiration”. Hay, who had “deep ties” with NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association), a group that promotes sex with young boys. In other words, pedophiles. And what have the NAMBLA sexual liberals been pushing for for years in Europe? That’s right, lowering the age of consent to as young as 10 between adults and children.

B. Hunter, let’s see…who benefits from the resulting increase in teen pregnancy? Oh, that would be Planned Pregnancy that can offer these teens abortions, often without parental input.

Do noe BE deceived.  PP knows exactly what they are doing.  PP makes their maoney from abortions, and they are looking to expand into a younger teen market.  More sexually active eleven and twelve year olds means more pregnancies which translates into more abortions, and more money in PP’s coffers.  They are death merchants.  Nothing but Death Merchants.

IF PP knows what they are doing (and I’m not naive enough to think they don’t), then woe to them when they have an answer to God for their actions.

I’m just surprised they mentioned Islam at all. Usually they only battle the Catholics and the Fundamentalist (i.e. “pro-life”) Christians. Fascinating.

We believe that parents should be teaching their children about sex and disagree with Planned Parenthood.

But.  What do you do for those who don’t?  Here in our county I’ve heard an incident of an 8-year old giving birth.  Didn’t even know it was possible.  And kids in each successive class in elementary school starting in 4th grade having births.  Spoke with my dad who was a 6th grade teacher in the late 50’s/early 6o’s.  They had some of the same problems back then.  Thoughts?

May I ask where in the Catechism or writings of the Catholic church is sex expected to be not pleasurable or positive (within the bounds of marriage, of course!)?

Jacobsladder - you missed the clever conflating by PP - they have just paired the Catholic Church with Islamic madrasses - which have the reputation of the worst sort of inculcation of extremist zealotry. So now, you see, the Catholic Church is just like the Islam! This is very well thought out - start tarring the Catholics with the Islamic brush in terms of extremist thought, and pretty soon you have changed the parameters of the argument, and demeaned and belittled Catholicism at the same time.

My father, Carl, pointed this particular article out to me tonight and I thought I would share my two cents on the issue.

It probably varies from state to state but I know in my state, in the school districts I’ve worked in, you have to be 16 to get an abortion in a PP clinic. Anything under that has to be done in an OBYGN-like office because of the risk of complications that come from children being pregnant.

Last spring I worked with a group of 6th grade students in a low income neighborhood. Out of the 14 regular students in the classroom, 4 had already admitted to having sexual intercourse, over half had experimented with some form of sexual activity and 2 of these incidents were interrupted by teachers. The same school district the year before had three pregnant middle school students all under the age of fourteen.

The thing is, kids are doing this stuff anyways at younger and younger ages. The reason behind it is simple; they have no parental support at home and no one telling them they really shouldn’t be doing this, especially not so young if for no other reason than it can seriously damage their bodies. They hear from friends ‘it’s cool’ and ‘everyone’s doing it’ and in the middle school environment, this means it’s got a good chance of happening if someone doesn’t step in. If there’s no one at home to teach them and the schools aren’t allowed to, they turn to their friends who are children just like them and give them the advice a child would give.

I’m not necessarily promoting PP’s methods at all but it disturbs me to think of the group of children I worked with had no idea just how much potential damage they could be doing to their bodies. They had no sexual education period, be it abstinence or pro-protection methods, as that comes in 8th grade around the age when it’s ‘safer’ to potentially participate in sex related actives.

That’s two years after they were ‘already doing it’.

Even if it’s abstinence or even just very basic information, there’s a very big need for something in those younger age groups, especially in high risk areas, because of just how high the birth rate in that age group is. The most ideal way of course is ask parents to do it but unfortunately the parents aren’t doing it. This means somebody else has to or we’ll never see a decrease in the under 16 pregnancy rate which is already frightening high.

I don’t think PP has the right to tell a parent who is involved in their child’s life what they can and cannot teach but I think we should pay attention to the fact that there are children who don’t have great Christian/Conservative parents who are in fact providing that instruction. They don’t go to church nor do the churches get involved in such situations and if the schools aren’t allowed to say a word, again, the only place they can go then is their friends.

Children shouldn’t be advising children, especially not on things like this.

Mika - thanks for your input.  Agree with you. 

What if??  What if we conservatives, understanding what’s going on in our community, were to come up with a time in the life of all children, not just our own, what we understand is appropriate by circumstances.  Then approach our school systems with plans that all parents must educate their own kids by a certain age/grade.  If not or by parental choice, then the talk is done at school.  Not so much for ourselves, but for those whose parents are abdicatng.  Just one idea.

Our Father in heaven, please help children who want to say no to premature sex. Give them the intelligence to disregard the temptations that Planned Parenthood wishes to instill in them.

Yeah, that’s about what I figured.

I think had any of these “Christians think sex is bad” PP people been to my wedding, they’d have been in for a shock…our priest’s homily had a lot to do with Song of Solomon and what exactly is meant by the “union” of man and wife, and was quite interesting.  From what I remember, that is.  Most of that day I spent in a haze, lol!

If “Big Tobacco” could be sued and pilloried for enticing young people into the harmful behavior of smoking by using deceptive advertising, can’t a similar strategy be employed against Planned Infanticide (I think it’s a more accurate name)?  All someone has to do is cite studies or fund them to show that children exposed to “comprehensive” sex education at younger ages are proportionately more likely to experience diminished mental health and adverse physical health effects.  I think it could work.

If the problem is identified as a minority of parents who do not teach their children sexual ethics, then we must then begin to develop appropriate responses to THAT problem.  In other words, our response is to support parents, as well as sexually active or pregnant teenagers.  There should be a variety of ways we can assist parents to SHOULDER THE RESPONSIBILITY GOD HAS ORDAINED FOR THEM, or that society expects from them, and keep in mind that some of these “out-to-lunch” parents are NOT in the lower socio-economic strata.

It’s more complicated than just ill-prepared or unconcerned parents, Mika. The American CULTURE immerses children in sexuality (I highly recommend reading “The Good Girl Revolution”, which documents the assault on girls in early years via toys and media)and some of the sexualization of younger children happens due to parents who are unaware or unconcerned with the effects on their children. It’s not that they don’t know what sexual ethic they want their child to have (how many parents really WANT their 12 year old to have sex?), they are losing a culture war they may not even know exists.

Christians should be engaged in both exposing and changing the culture, primarily by raising godly young men and women who understand biblical ethics, including sexual ethics, (and supporting other parents in doing the same), but also by working through churches and civic organizations, including schools, to help develop creative, effective “counter-cultural” balance.

I have worked all my life with middle school students in a Christian school, and you would be surprised how many even in that setting know little about biblical views of sex, but are well aware of the view from culture.  But as a school counselor, I am committed to the original model ordained by God - Parents are responsible for the ethical training of their children, and when society (such as a school) steps in to take that responsibility FOR THEM, you are not really solving the long-term problem. Hence, we need to train parents HOW to take on this responsibility as much if not more than explaining sex to their children.

This is false! I received my formal sex education in the fifth grade (informal was already by third and that was in the 1970’s) in a Catholic school, so near age 11, since I was in 5th when in Boy Scouts.

However, I will concede, it was probably NOTHING like what Planned Parenthood wanted, but a factual, this is what is going to happen to your body and why and what God’s plan is for sex. This was at the time, but I’d say before the effects of JP II’s Theology of the Body, still respectful and creation oriented.

I also shortly afterward was in one of the most liberal high schools in the nation (yes, high schools can be politicized) and remember sex ed in health, basically it was about contraception, mostly about condoms (this was in the AIDS scare, pre-drug cocktails when folks were dying of the STD), it really didn’t provide much answers—at that time, if I’m to “do it” then how do I get a girl to say “yes.” Since the public schools were not able to answer that one, I remained pure for a few more years.

If Planned Parenthood tells (educates?) 8-year olds that sex can be pleasurable, it is not going to prevent this from happening. Planned Parenthood may call this sex education but it is a perversion of education that leaves vulnerable young girls at the mercy of those who wish to take advantage of them. 
The man who took advantage of the 8-year is the one who should be educated (forcibly) by our criminal justice system.
