Glad that they didn’t put up with that rape comment…

...oh, hold it, they kept the one who said it on the air:

Goldberg is an idiot and makes her living being an idiot.  Akin is supposed to be smarter than that.  Akin (my Congressman) was in the lion’s den with Charles Jaco, and he should have measured every syllable he said with him.  Instead, he hung a fat, juicy curve out over the plate and the Left has jacked it out of the park, over the stadium wall and over the parking lot.

I just got an email from him saying he’s staying in the race.  He’s a fool, and a self-centered one at that.  He’s going to get McCaskill reelected and prevent a takeover of the Senate on his now-pointless mission.  Shame on him.

Given all the pressure being put on Rep. Akin by his fellow Republicans to get out of the race, I consider it simply a matter of time before he finally gets a clue and withdraws from the race. Hopefully it’s a very short time.

Two random thoughts…

Last year, I was in St Louis (for the first and so far only time) and happened upon a mini-controversy that Akin had fallen into.  He had moved from some suburb to another and not updated his voter registration (voting precinct had changed).  At the time, I thought it much ado about nothing - and it may have been.  But now I’m hearing that he’s stumbled into these types of things before.  Sunday’s gaffe is an inexcusable doozie, but it may not be out-of-character for Akin to have these.

And Whoopi…  yeah, I’m not a fan.  I’m still upset that Polanski can do what he did and live a life of luxury in Switzerland, protected by the international political elite.  But people can surprise once in a while - Whoopi a few weeks ago came out against the Chick-Fil-A progrom, even though she is a supporter of same-sex marriage.  Still not a fan of hers, but did appreciate her standing against that particular madness.

It just gets better and better.  Akin was supposed to be on Piers Morgan this evening but bailed out.

Johnson, with your recent UMC coverage, you need to throw your name in as a candidate.  You have the national reach.

Although I don’t know Todd very well, I must say that he and his family are an impressive group - which is why I voted for him in the primary.

He is, without question, a committed and follower of the Lord, and a principled man.

Yes, he - like all of us - is capable of repeating some errant nonsence, which once pointed out as such, apologized for saying.

Whether or not he stays in the race is, of course, up to him; and what I wish to point out is simply this:

Neither the National RP nor anyone else can guarantee that they will prevail in retaking the Senate - with or without Todd.  Missouri Republicans elected Todd because they thought him the better candidate for many reasons than the other two.
He is still the better candidate and I hope he decides to stay in.

I’ve got no problem with capital punishment for rapists. But I don’t think we should kill their children, born or unborn.

There’s got to be a better way to stop people from murdering the babies of bad men than the way Akin chose.

I used to wonder if giving birth to a child might be a positive result of being raped, in which case abortion wd be that much worse.  OTOH, I didn’t understand why you’d want to put someone you loved through childhood.
