Are we civilized?

Over at Red State, I ran into a feature that made me think, “This is what blogging is all about.”

“Kermit Gosnell, Nihilism, Tolerance, and The Evil of The Blur” is a short, hard punch of truth.  It is audio/visual and economically verbal; polemic and prose; it is the news the MSM stopped delivering in order to serve “the blur.”

There’s shocking content and some coarse expression, but it is worth watching, hearing, reading and most of all engaging the challenge it mounts,

I can’t hate what I can’t intelligently argue against. I can want it to be false, but the guy calling Americans a nation increasingly populated by unaware, uncaring losers is speaking God’s truth. The Evil of The Blur is yet another way in which America increasingly fails to qualify anymore as a civilized nation.

Timothy, thanks for highlighting this RS post.  It’s funny how God seems to lead one to certain lessons from His Word at various times in one’s walk; I seem to be reading and re-reading a lot lately about ancient Israel’s turning away from their covenant, and their playing the harlot, all the while supposing themselves still better than the Gentile nations around them.

While I don’t presume that our nation is some “new Israel,” or has been anything other than a deliberately non-theocratic state from its beginning (and thankfully so), I do believe that the USA has benefited tremendously from our Judeo-Christian founding principles, and that we have been blessed in many ways throughout our history.  And I can’t help but think that we are as a people turning our backs on God, and will reap very bitter fruit for it.

Our nation desperately needs our prayers and for good men and women to fight against the Evil of the Blur.
