Tracking TAC’s Progress Towards Rome:

I want to keep an eye on TAC’s progress and during Lambeth, there were some further exchanges that Ruth Gledhill of The Times highlighted:

Rome is taking seriously the prospect of ‘corporate unity’ with traditional Anglicans but the message is: ‘Not yet.’ So says Cardinal Levada, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in this letter. The Traditional Anglican Communion’s Primate, Archbishop John Hepworth, is rumoured to be heading to Lambeth this week.

God’s time is not TAC’s time nor Rome’s time, nor TEc time, etc….If it is God’s will it will happen and happen in His time in His way!

If only Antioch, Constantinople and Moscow would also be inviting!

If TAC wants to join Rome, they need to be willing to do it on Rome’s terms.  They can’t expect Rome to change just to accomnandate them.  The existing Pastoral Provisions and Anglican Use liturgies seem, from this outsiders perspective, more than adequet to statisfy the needs of ex-Anglican Roman Catholics.  Meanwhile, they can’t be courting two churches at once.  Why is the American wing of TAC in FACA and through FACA in CCP if they are so bent on Rome?

You did see the dates of the letter and of the Gledhill column, didn’t you?

Yes, TACit, that is why I used the words “and during Lambeth” in the post.  We just hadn’t noted it here at SF and I like to keep people informed on the admittedly slow progress.
