Bishop Iker predicts that the coming of “structural reformation” to the Anglican presence in North America will be “soon to immediate, within the next year or so.” I certainly hope the “reformation” he is speaking of is the formation of the new orthodox province here. I hadn’t dared hope that it could come into being that quickly!

We should all be cheered here in Fort Worth by the bishop’s prediction that he will remain our bishop for the next ten or twelve years! Thanks be to God for the good bishop’s leadership and courage.

What is to prevent Schori and company from giving Iker the boot immediately following Lambeth?  I can only imagine that Beercats is planning to parachute troops into the diocese immediately and take control.  It doesn’t seem to me like they will have until September at the Fort Worth Annual Convention.

Well, monologistos, while it seems that PB Schori et al are not too concerned about what the canons of TEC, it looks like they would at least prefer the “cover” of something that looks like it was endorsed by the House of Bishops meeting (or at least whatever rump of the HOB they can muster for their attack). So I do not anticipate any attack against +Iker until at least the September HOB meeting. It seems pretty clear that the PB will attack +Duncan then. There is no reason to think +Iker will escape unscathed, other than the fact that they have no publicly tried to get him inhibited yet and failed (as was the case with +Duncan earlier this year). They may decide to get Pittsburgh out of the way as a “test case” before attacking Fort Worth. We shall see. Hopefully this matter will be irrelevent following our November diocesan convention.

From beautiful Costa Rica where all of this has been a buzz in my background since May 15:

It is reassuring to be able to keep up with the latest in Anglican Communion and Jerusalem Communion news through the excellent work of Stand Firm and the other blogs, even if I do still have to go to an internet cafe to be connected.  (We might have a phone and internet service soon.)  One of the downsides of having to go to the internet cafe is the difficulty hearing the audio on this report.

We will be back in Dallas at the end of the month and I am very much looking forward to hearing what Bishop Iker has to say at the Common Cause-North Texas gathering on September 20th, post-GAFCON and post-Lambeth.
