[OT] UK Greens Waste As Much or More Energy than Average Folk

Austerity for thee, but not for me…

An outfit called IRT Surveys took thermal images of a number of outspoken UK greenies, and guess what:

An audit of properties, measuring heat loss, has revealed that Chris Martin, the pop star, Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, and Sir David Attenborough, the broadcaster, are among those who reside in homes that are “leaking” energy. Some lack even the most basic energy saving measures such as cavity wall insulation and double glazing.

Thermal images of the residences of 10 high-profile green campaigners found that their heat loss was either worse or no better than that found in the average family home.

This on the heels of the news that Prince Charles is making his global “green” tour on a private jet that will release 332 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere over the course of the trip. The same jet he stupposably gave up in 2006 in an effort not to appear like a complete hypocritical buffoon.

As Glenn Reynolds observes, and as Ed Morrisey at HotAir reminds us, “I’ll believe we have a crisis when the Cassandras start living as though a crisis exists.”

You and me both, Ed.

Comments:

“It’s not easy being green..”  Kermit the frog

Either walk the talk or shut the heck up…this has been the #1 criticism of the “greeners” for years.  They INVITE this criticism by being hypocrites about the very thing they are touting.

Good thing us Christians aren’t like this…uh huh…;-)

Power and Control.  That’s what we’re programmed for, that’s my technical definition of Original Sin, that we are from the uterus craving power and control.

Why should Greenies be any different?  They are just techno-clods who have settled onto the Green movement as their ticket to Power and Control.  If they hadn’t hooked their wagon to the Green movement, it would have been something else, you know, animal rights or Empire Guilt, or something equally goofy.

Not in the least suprised, wish I was!

I agree with Mike B, power and control.  On top of that you can add “meaning of life”.  These are causes, and there are people out there very desperate to attach themselves to a cause.  Better that the villan in the cause is someone other than them.  Case in point:  we are currently rebuilding our church to be “green” and “LEED Certified”.  The technology we are using is based on good ole styrofoam (like in the McDonald’s coffee cups that Greens hate) which is carbon foot-print front loaded like you can’t believe.  But the Green Faries are just fawning over it it in spades.  Give me a discounted cash flow business case any day of the week!

For these examples think in terms of the watermelon - green on the outside and red on the inside.
