Some takeaways:
The “civil union” part still took place in the church….although in the narthex rather than sanctuary.
At 2:40, make sure you hear the Very Important Bit about the attire, especially the “fabulous” shoes.
His grandchildren and 2 daughters were there—wonder if he considered for even a moment there would not have been any children or grandchildren except that there was a time in his life when he must have been at least trying to follow God’s will for marriage.
The scripture they chose was the one about not hiding your light under a bushel, but putting it onto a lampstand to shine out into the world.  Unfortunately, it sounded more like it was the “light” of LGBT awareness, rather than that of Christ.
The whole thing is just very sad.

[And if I were being very petty, I would remark on SR’s strange habit of raising those eyebrows as if trying to WILL the listener to believe the lies she is telling.
Very weird.]

No comment! I’m trying to be Christian!

HeartAfire - the eyebrow raising was very interesting.  I was so distracted by that I could hardly pay attention to her words. Very strange.

Would you like to borrow a comb?

I am fairly sure you can see VGR in his tux on the right side of the screen in the background during the first half of these clips.

My dyslexia is showing.  He is on the left side of the screen - on SR’s right, beginning at 46 seconds.

“Bonnie Anderson, President of the HOD, and a whole host of bishops attended”  WOW, along with matching bowties and cumberbund and shoes too fancy to describe—I am impressed

Isn’t that special

That is quite a trick, with those eyebrows.  They kind of come out of nowhere.  I was glad for the diversion.

The light shines forth “about what faithful commmitted relationships” mean? ... I don’t know if I’d call it a light but definitely for “worser”.  The light of gayness appears to be a new incarnation of deity.  But what of the new couple?  This is all about Susan Russell’s big day.  I suppose she’s bishop material now.

I didn’t notice the eyebrows so much—because I couldn’t believe that for such a “special” and “memorable” occassion she couldn’t do her hair!
.... meow,  meow, meow

Does anyone know which bishops attended?

Wow, that is some impressive eye brow range of movement.  I can’t make mine move nearly that much.

His grandchildren and 2 daughters were there

I’m so glad they were there to witness to the fact that their existence was a horrible mistake.

#16, Jacobsladder, It works for me.

As fresh and gay as a blushing June bride.

I don’t want to mock the individuals here, but that was a sad mockery of a wedding, and I find it hard to see it in any other light. More of a satire on a wedding.

oscewicee,
Satire is a good word! But I for one see it as Sodom & Gomorrah morphed! Blasphemy!

A serious question that may bring a chuckle but seriously….does this mean that his name changes to V.Gene Andrerws? Or does Mark become Mark Robinson?

By holding this shindig on church grounds, they desecrated the entire place!  Pardon me if I barf!  Yechhh!!

Was there sniper fire?

Did we all catch that little ‘ole comment from the video . . . Anglican Bishop(s) and Priests deferring to a Justice of the Peace??!

Disgusting!

[23] Posted by ZachD on 06-09-2008 at 10:52 AM • top

The shoes are something else.

Why is the video no longer available?

[Did she go put on makeup?
Brush her hair, maybe?]

Seriously, did she go inside to put on a bulletproof vest because she feared people were not feeling the love with her?

Does anyone here think it’s remotely appropriate to be joking about bullet proof vests, given the circumstances? What part of “no threats real or implied of physical violence” does this represent?

“We pride ourselves on having some of the most open, honest debate . . .” Snarky comments about hair and shoes are open, honest debate?

“Be loving in everything you do,” unless you have an opportunity to outsnark one of your pals. Where do you all find the time to be so petty and mean-spirited toward your fellow men?

[27] Posted by uffda51 on 06-11-2008 at 10:05 AM • top

Well, apparently Jesus being our Saviour is open for debate so why not shoes? As for bullet proof vest remark. Many people get death threats, for example +Duncan has received many. Do they talk about bullet proof vests? No.  I’m all for open debate. The only problem is, that my friends on the left aren’t. It is their way or no way. So, if we appear mean-spirited try reading what the left says.
