Bill Thompson is the bald fellow on the far right corner!

more specifically, the lower right corner, not vested (between #s 6&10;)

5 is Malango; Cavalaconti (sp?) may be behind Minns; the rest look right, except Venables does not seem quite right/focused.

Is that +Murphy standing behind ++Kolini?  (You can just make out the top of his head.)

Just looking at this photograph makes me feel good inside. Something is happening here that goes far beyond petty church politics, I believe.

How many of these bishops will be at Lambeth 2008?  So that another photo will be taken and people can play “Name that Bishop!” with those bishops in attendance.

There seem to be three bishops behind Minns two on his right and one on his left.  Any ideas?

Also everyone so far has reported that Iker was there, but I don’t see him in the picture.

[7] Posted by Rom 1:16 on 08-30-2007 at 10:51 AM • top

Note that at least one of the bishops is representing +Akinola, and there are sure to be a couple of others from Kenya there.

Assuming that +Malango is #5, and based on the comment about Primates’ attendance by Bill Thompson in another thread here,
[http://www.standfirminfaith.com/index.php/site/article/5437/#100799]
it looks like all the Primates have been identified.

I’m assuming quite a few of the pictured bishops will be Kenyan bishops whom many of us in the US may not know or recognize.  Perhaps these are the diocesan Kenyan bishops who oversee various of the US congregations?

Thanks for working on the identifications, Greg et al!

# 6 looks like The Rt Revd Henry Tiras Nyaga Kathii, but, gosh it’s hard to tell in a side view like this.

Regarding above photo.  USA Today as a reprint photo service option on their web site.  Reuters also has the option at:

I just order my 5X7 glossy for my personal use and edification.

Bishop James Ochiel of Southern Nyanza has oversight of three US parishes, but I do not see him in the picture (granted there’s quite a crowd!)

My thoughts exactly.

I can’t tell for sure, but I think the bishop behind Minns is Yong Ping Chung from Southeast Asia.

That is not Bill Thompson in the far right corner. One of the photos at T19 shows Bill vested and standing beside Bishop Murdoch.

Ah, since I think Greg forgot to link it, here is the link to Kevin’s AWESOME photo album from Kenya.  I can’t figure out how he managed to take all these stills AND do the video at the same time!  You rock Kevin!

http://picasaweb.google.com/AnglicanTV/2007NairobiKenya/

143 pictures for your viewing pleasure!!

One friend has not only spotted +Iker but also Anderson, McCaslin & Ilgenfritz.  Network folks have a good contingent there!

[17] Posted by The_Elves on 08-30-2007 at 01:58 PM • top

Jayanthony—I admit that from behind and above, the person you point out could well be my twin, but, alas. it is not I. I was vested and at the time that picture was taken, I was sitting with the other deans in attendance way in the background.

On another note, I am almost nearly the bishop behind Martyn Minns is Robinson Cavalcanti of Recife. He was there.

[18] Posted by Bill Thompson+ on 08-30-2007 at 01:59 PM • top

I’ll take a guess that the man unvested in the lower right corner is the son of Murdoch, which, of course, would make him Ben Murdoch.  :  )
Kevin has a photo of this young man and a young woman in his gallery.

You didn’t ask, but my favorite picture is here.
Thanks, Kevin.

Sorry for the mistake Bill+, you are one of my heroes!

Whoever that is at the lower right (in black), it is not Bill Thompson.  I’ve seen the top of BT’s head, and that ain’t it.  Besides, in all the other pictures, BT is in alb & stole.

Rob Eaton+ I loved that too! Indeed, thank you Kevin!

...and as usual, I shoulda “F5’d” before posting my comment.  But what do you mean Bill+, by: “On another note, I am almost nearly the bishop behind Martyn Minns…”??  Is this a word of prophecy?  ;^)

To Oscewicee and Irenaeus,
Friends, I am confident that the reason why the photo is pleasing to you is due to the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I was also moved by the photo.
Peace

West Coast Cleric, LOL!  Too funny!  I’m sure many of us would be glad to add the Amen!

How long before the Reasserting Motivator/Reappraising Demotivator poster shows up on the web?

My caption:

Is this one of those matching games?  Do you get points for all the bishops you can connect an arrow too?

I want to play!  I want to play!

So proud to see Bishop Harvey and Bishop Duncan there amidst these friends.  What a remarkable day!

It is great to see these pictures of genuine Anglican leadership.

OK, I got other things to do today….but (just for you Romans 1:16), I went looking for Bp Iker in Kevin’s AnglicanTV recordings of the consecrations.  It seemed strange he would be in procession but not participate in the consecrations.
Let’s face it, Bishop, you do have a “low” profile. : )
Anyway, after the consecrations have taken place and Kevin backs out with a wider shot to show the hugs, and greetings, etc., Bp Jack appears (in the video) on what would be the right side of the picture posted above, probably right behind Bp #6, and to Malango’s left.

[31] Posted by Rob Eaton+ on 08-30-2007 at 03:02 PM • top

Edith, also from P’burgh in attendance, Canon Mary Hays.  Not seen in the pic. above, but in Kevin’s photo gallery, alongside Allison Barfoot.

Rob Eaton+

Thanks.  It was the being seen but not obviously visible up front that led to the question.  I figured it would be taken as more evidence of the Anglo-Cath/Evangelical split and wanted to reassure my feeble mind that such is not the case.

[33] Posted by Rom 1:16 on 08-30-2007 at 03:27 PM • top

Mr. Manley, AMIA Bishop Chuck Murphy was present and he is pictured separately in Kevin’s gallery referred to by Rev. Eaton above.

[34] Posted by William#2 on 08-30-2007 at 03:38 PM • top

This is very significant.  It appears that as the “fedcons” and “comcons” argue about on this site and others, more and more of the Primates are coming together, not only as a counterbalance to Canterbury, but in drawing together others that left earlier such as the AMIA.

[35] Posted by Going Home on 08-30-2007 at 04:37 PM • top

... more and more of the primates are coming together, not only as a counterbalance to Canterbury, but in drawing together others that left earlier such as the AMiA.

AMEN!!!  Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!  Forget the artificial CommCon and FedCon division btw biblical Anglicans!  There should be a unity in purpose for conservative Anglicans!

[36] Posted by Truth Unites... and Divides on 08-30-2007 at 04:40 PM • top

but in drawing together others that left earlier such as the AMiA.

While I’m very please to see +Gomez there, I’m not go as far as others and say he abandoning ACI route, I think there unity in diversity at the primate level and he supporting the orthodox block. However, +Murphy is different. When +Atwood name was announced everyone seemed excited except one, Murphy remembered things Atwood+ said a long time ago. So +Chuck Murphy’s attendance means one of two things, he was ordered by ++Kolini or true reconciliation was done.

I hoping it the latter. There were many who were upset around +Minns installation. I said to Matt+ that if the cultivation was done the harvest will follow. The depths of my bones hopes that the last few months the Network given up spin and done the hard work of bringing reconciliation and true unity between all members, including those who may have been estranged.

Time will tell and I know Satan will seek to put the bonds to a test, but if real, there is a lot of hope for it means they have set egos aside and put the Lord in charge of this process.

Truth Unites.., and Hosea,

To use a phrase with which Hosea is familiar:

“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.”

We don’t need to be each others’ burnt offerings.
Even though this will look to some as creating a divided witness, Hallelujah for an undivided witness, in the midst of a divided Communion and various Provinces of the same.
The Truth should unite, indeed.

West Coast Anglican—“But what do you mean Bill+, by: ‘On another note, I am almost nearly the bishop behind Martyn Minns…’??  Is this a word of prophecy?”

Sorry about that. It was not prophecy, just fatigue. I am still jet lagged. I was tired and did not edit properly. What I was trying to say was that I is 99% sure that the bishop behind Martyn Minns in the picture was Robinson Cavalcanti of Recife. He was there. Also, thanks for the kind words.

[40] Posted by Bill Thompson+ on 08-30-2007 at 06:49 PM • top

I agree Rob+.  The Truth should unite.  But unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way.

BTW, the smiley thing doesn’t work for me either.  I think it was because of the recent upgrade at SFIF

I saw the smiley and knew that you were joking around when you were calling Dr. Tighe a “papist muckraker”.

But even in jest, I personally would not want to risk the wrath of the mighty Dr. Tighe.

I have been attached to and in fellowship with all these men, side by side in combat, during the controversy around TEC’s innovations which have so undermined our church’s witness, for many years—it is they who have nurtured and supported my wife, Jessie, and me in faith and ministry—this is a deeply moving picture and a snap shot of the church of which I am thankful to God to be a part—it is the real face and future of Anglicanism—come join us…the choice is clear: permissiveness and perversion or virtue and victory.

Isn’t #3 with his hand on Atwood’s head Peter Akinola? And is #11 the Abp. of Congo? I suspect many of the other bishops are Kenyan.

It is significant, I think, that Akrofi and Ernest are there as representatives of CAPA.

“Isn’t #3 with his hand on Atwood’s head Peter Akinola? And is #11 the Abp. of Congo?”

Stephen: No, neither of those two primates were present. Akinola sent one of his fellow archbishops of Nigeria in his stead. Don’t remember the name.

Good morning, Bill. It was a pleasure to see your beaming face in dozens of photos in Kevin’s gallery. I hope to see you in Calif. around October 13.

Such a joy to see these godly leaders!
Another person in the procession is The Rev. Lynne Ashmead, a Kenyan priest in the SE convocation of the Network.

[48] Posted by SQ on 08-31-2007 at 06:40 AM • top

Rob Eaton+—Amen, I pray the Lord draw all these together. The Reformation splintering is seen today and that’s a fear, but the unity of the primates including +Gomez and +Venables makes this more like a Dominicans reformation which did not splinter and strengthen the Church.

Can anyone identify the other woman or women in collar in Kevin’s still photos??

Abp. Nicholas Okoh representing Abp. Akinola is person in front of Abp. Gomez though the face is partly covered by the arrow here.

#1 is The Rt Rev Colin Bazley, former Presiding Bishop of the Southern Cone and an assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Chester, Church of England, who brought greetings from 31 members of General Synod and the signatories of the Covenant for the Church of England.
