Subscription Goal Met - Thank You!

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 • 9:42 am

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the 2008 Stand Firm subscription drive. Combined with the contributions from our existing supporters, we have met our goal.

Our current treasurer recently informed me that since the subscription drive began, we have received $1,300 in paper checks, so, as I mentioned in my last update, I divided that total by 12 and added it to our previous total, bringing the monthly amount to $975.

It’s especially sweet that the final $25 a month came from Charles Leggett, Stand Firm’s first treasurer. Charles’ home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. For several days after the storm I couldn’t find him. When I finally did, he described his home and lot overlooking the Gulf of Mexico as having been “scrubbed clean,” as if God had come along with a giant pressure washer. Here’s a photo I took shortly after the storm, along the same stretch of road where Charles’ home once stood:

Thanks Charles, and thanks again to everyone who has helped ensure our continued operations throughout 2008!
