Florida prosecutors have decided not to pursue charges against an official in Gov. Deval Patrick's administration who had been accused of sexual battery against a teenage boy in the steam room of a Florida resort.
Carl Stanley McGee, assistant secretary for policy and planning, was arrested Dec. 28 at the Gasparilla Inn & Club in Boca Grande, Fla., after the boy's father contacted police.
McGee, who goes by Stan, had been placed on unpaid leave from his $115,000 job on Jan. 7 pending the outcome of the case.
"The State Attorney in Lee County, Florida, after a thorough investigation, has decided that no charges should be brought against Stan McGee," McGee's Boston-based attorney, Charles Rankin, said in a statement Thursday. 'Mr. McGee believes the decision by the Florida prosecutor not to pursue this case speaks for itself, and he looks forward to going on with his life."
Greg,
That’s a relief, thanks for posting this. We had a previous Stand Firm thread on this, when things were looking really bad for McGee. It’s good to feature it now, just to make clear that we’re all looking for the truth, rather than an excuse to sling mud at some Worthy Opponents.
Cheers,
