Most of the points could have applied to ECUSA prior to 2003.

Lesson to be learned: membership in the Presbyterian Church in America, which seperated from PCUSA in the seventies, continues to rise while PCUSA numbers continue to decline. Briarwood, a PCIA church in Birmingham, is representative of the type of church community that occurs when the Word is clearly and unapologetically preached.

Well written and easy to read. Although the polity of the Presbyterian USA church differs significantly from our own (i. e. we have the Communion), the choices are stark for both denominations.

Thanks for the link. I was raised in the Presbyterian Church, and my own church remained PCUSA after a local split. It remains a vibrant church due entirely to its local leadership. It grieves my heart to see them struggling with the same issues we face.

Two different religions in PCUSA, just as in ECUSA.

My heart goes out to my orthodox Presbyterian friends, one minister brother in Christ in particular, whose church has opened their hearts and doors to us for AAC meetings (we are in a hostile revisionist diocese where we have not been welcomed in any Episcopal churches). He has told us many times that they are in exactly the same place we are and has asked for (and is receiving) our prayers.

God is calling us to be faithful, whether we are Presbyterian or Episcopalian if we bear the name of His Son. We have no choice as those who have received the most precious gift of all--salvation and eternal life in through faith in Jesus Christ. We are not our own. We were bought at a price. We are to honor God with our bodies and our spirits which are HIS! (1 Cor. 6:19-20) "Choose ye this day whom you shall serve" is exactly what both denominations are going to have to do.

Thanks for this to both George Woodliff and Greg. I want others to see it and will send them here.
